THE AMAZING D-RESORT ŠIBENIK CROATIA
(Our preferred hotel in Šibenik, Croatia)
By Michael Chinnici
Šibenik is not only one of our favorite medieval cities in Europe, but the cornerstone of our Croatia Photo Adventures. Located along Croatia’s Dalmatian coast (about one hour north of Split), Šibenik provides a perfect location for exploring the central Croatian coast and Kirka National Park.
Our preferred hotel in Šibenik is the newly constructed 5-star boutique hotel named the “D-Resort”. The resort is located at the end of the city’s deep bay (Kirka estuary), and one of the most naturally protected harbors on the Adriatic coast.
Sibenik is the city less known to tourist than Dubrovnik and Split, although it has it’s own unique personality and charm. The atmosphere in Sibenik is youthful and lively. Little streets lead to attractive squares where modern shop windows unite really nicely with the fine and stylish architecture of the vanished centuries.
ABOUT THE D-RESORT
Standing on a private peninsula in the Kirka estuary, D-Resort Sibenik is set in a striking avant-garde design building, featuring organic, modern forms that echo the landscape and the maritime location. Situated beside the marina, this unique property offers luxurious accommodation, top-class cuisine and fabulous facilities and service in a spectacular waterfront setting.
Surrounded by the water on three sides, D-Resort Sibenik offers sweeping views of the estuary, the Adriatic and the historic city of Sibenik. Shuttle services can be arranged into the old town, where guests can visit St. James’s Cathedral (built in 1432), the St. Michael Fortress, or the Duke’s palace and the Museum of the City of Sibenik, among countless other fascinating sights. On site, the hotel boasts a 220 sq m swimming pool, a kids club, a spa and wellness centre, and extensive sport facilities. A range of water sports are also available, and motor yachts and sailing boats can be chartered at the adjoining D-Marin Mandalina marina.
D-Resort Sibenik is also home to a range of fine dining and entertainment venues, including the Art Restaurant and Bar, where breakfast is served, along with à la carte lunch and dinner menus, featuring international specialities accompanied by an excellent selection of Croatian and international wines. The Yacht Club Restaurant is a relaxed spot where guests can enjoy Mediterranean and Asian fusion cuisine in elegant surroundings, with great views of the marina and the Adriatic.
ABOUT ŠIBENIK
Šibenik is the oldest originally Croatian city on the Adriatic coast, first mentioned in 1066. Due to its unique position in the safest natural harbor in the Adriatic on the Krka River estuary, the town developed into one of the most important renaissance centers. Šibenik is known for its medieval town with high stone houses, winding cobbled streets, numerous staircases, archways, churches, monasteries as well as St. James cathedral, which is part of UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. Šibenik is surrounded by three fortresses, while the Fortress of St. Nicholas, the most important renaissance fortification on the Eastern Adriatic coast, stands in the St. Anthony Channel, which connects Šibenik harbor with the open sea.Besides its rich history, Šibenik is becoming an increasingly popular destination due to growing tourist offer and vicinity of Primošten and Vodice, some of the most attractive tourist destinations in Croatia. Two national parks, reachable in 30 minutes by boat or car, add to the attractiveness of the location.
Join us at the D-Resort Šibenik on one of our Croatia Photo Adventures. Limited to no more than 6 guests, this amazing 8-Day photo adventure vacation begins in the capital Zagreb and ends in Split, and is sure to take your breath away.

Sibenik was one of my favorite spots in Croatia, and this resort hotel–both rooms and restaurants–was an amazing choice for our group.
So happy you enjoyed Jane 🙂
